Future of AAL in Europe

The International Conference on Personalised Coaching and Intelligent ICT Environments for Wellbeing and Care will be held on 19th November during the 2019 Health and Innovation Week in Odense, Denmark.

This Conference is being organised in the framework of the SAAM project (Supporting Active Aging through Multimodal coaching), funded by the EU’s H2020 research and innovation programme. During the one-day event experts, coming from the SAAM partnership as well as from other EU projects and initiatives will share their experience and advancements in the field.

The format of the conference will consist of a morning session and an afternoon session. Each session will include a key note speaker, followed by expert talks/showcases. Topics range from digital transformation of health, feature construction and modelling of decision support systems, the role of the social circles in care and wellbeing, persuasion and coaching strategies for behavioural change, privacy preserving technologies for detecting changes in cognition and emotion, and many more. This event is one of the main highlights for public awareness, which aims to bring together experts and practitioners from research, government and industry to start shaping today the digital solutions of tomorrow in supporting ageing population to remain independent, healthy and to actively contribute in the European society and economy.

About

SAAM is a large and ambitious project, bringing 10 partners from 5 EU countries, focuses on supporting Europe’s various ageing population to remain active and independent. Characterized by an unobtrusive ambient data collection, common hardware for sensing, and social circles as part of a multi-modal system. SAAM coaches in mobility, activity, social interaction and sleep. It assesses situations and autonomously decides rendering of suitable coaching actions through advanced data fusion, machine learning and decision support modelling.
SAAM is one of the few if not the only H2020 project, coordinated by a Bulgarian institution – the Balkan Institute for Labour and Social Policy (BG). It is part of the efforts to ensure Bulgarian presence at the European map of research and innovations. The project is being implemented in partnership with leading HEI, namely the University of Edinburgh (UK) and the Paris Lodron University of Salzburg (AT), two Slovenian research organisations, – University Rehabilitation Institute and the technological Jožef Stefan Institute, established technological companies like the IT leader in Bulgaria ScaleFocus and the German Interactive Wear AG. The Consortium includes also renowned non-governmental organisations with wide experience in working with and for seniors – the Bulgarian Red Cross, Caritas Bulgaria and the Austrian platform of the European Federation of Older Persons – EURAG Austria.

Campus Odense is a new urban zone in the city of Odense in the heart of Denmark. Campus Odense is recognized as one of Europe’s most ambitious growth and development areas housing important research and educational institutions as well as businesses and start-up hubs focusing on robotics and health technology. How to get there

The Conference will be held at Campus Odense (Forskerparken 10H) - a new urban zone in the city of Odense, located in the heart of Denmark. You can reach the venue by car, public transport or a taxi. By Car: Follow E45 on the motorway from the South and turn to E20. Odense C is exit №52 when you arrive from the West. If you arrive from the East, use exit №48. By public transport: To Forskerparken take bus no 21, 24, 161 or 162 from the train station. Get of the bus at Munkebjergvej and walk 1 km to the campus. By Taxi: It will take you approximatively 240 DKK if you take taxi from the main train station to the campus.
